Attention: The MIST Academy Summer schedule is now online.
MIST Academy is an innovative program for motivated young problem solvers. MIST stands for Mathematics, Informatics, Science, and Technology, and MIST Academy programs are dedicated to providing the best educational experience for students with those areas of interest.
Initially, the primary focus of MIST Academy is mathematical problem solving. As a subject, math is easier than most subjects to play around with. It requires little if any knowledge of other subjects, and few physical tools. Math also serves as a foundational prerequisite for many problem solving fields. MIST classes are aimed at bright math students in or entering grades 3 through 12.
Please note that MIST Academy will be closing its doors at the end of July of 2013. We have greatly enjoyed our nearly six years in Alabama, and the hundreds of amazing students we have had the opportunity to work with. MIST Academy founder Mathew Crawford has helped to found a new educational center, Daedalus Education, in the Dallas, TX area. For those in Alabama still interested in quality math education options, please note the following:
- Emily Brasher plans to continue working with talented and gifted elementary school age students. She can be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org.
- Dr. Julie Ryle will conduct classes using the MIST Academy curriculum (which will undergo rebranding shortly) at Montessori Learning Center Today. Contact Patricia Turner for details at (205) 499-2391 or email email@example.com.
- Former MIST Academy student Sabrina Chen is once again holding classes at her Eat Pi Institute of Mathematics in Huntsville, Alabama. Not only is Sabrina a two time member of the Alabama MATHCOUNTS team, but also coached this year's individual and team champions, and coached the Alabama team at the national competition.
