The MIST Academy Speech and Debate program is designed to help students develop practical research, logic, and communication skills in an enjoyable and sometimes highly competitive environment.
Note that we are currently not offering speech and debate course offerings, though we may continue to do so in the future.
The competitive world of debate is divided into several "schools" that you can read about through the links below:
- Policy Debate
- Lincoln-Douglas Debate
- Public Forum Debate
- Model UN
- Student Congress (Model Congress)
- Extemporaneous Speaking
MIST Academy offers classes in some of these forms of debate, including our programs in the MIST Academy Summer Institute (MASI). Each student who wishes to enroll in a MIST Academy Argumentation/Debate class should contact us to set up an interview. Each student interviewing should prepare for the interview process according to this document.
